At Origins Foster Care, we believe that every voice in fostering matters – from carers and social workers to children, families, and the wider community. That’s why I'm so delighted to introduce our brand-new podcast: Voices – The Origins Foster Care Podcast.
I’m proud to be the host of Voices – The Origins Foster Care Podcast. As both a foster carer and Recruitment & Marketing Lead here at Origins, I wanted to create a space for honest conversations and real stories about fostering in Ireland.
Whether you’re already a foster carer, thinking about becoming one, or simply curious to learn more, this podcast is for you.
In each episode, I sit down with people who live and breathe fostering – carers, professionals, and those with lived experience of care – to explore what fostering really means in everyday life.
The conversations go beyond the headlines. They highlight the joys and challenges carers face, the impact of a supportive home on a child’s future, and the shared purpose that connects everyone involved in fostering.
“Our goal is simple: to raise awareness of the need for foster carers and to show the life-changing difference that a loving, supportive home can bring.”
If you’d like a flavour of what’s to come, you can now listen to the short trailer episode, where I give a brief introduction of what Voices is all about and what listeners can expect from the series.
In our very first episode, launching Tuesday 7th October 2025, I'm joined by Andrew Murphy, the National Advocacy Coordinator with the Irish Foster Care Association (IFCA).
Andrew brings more than two decades of experience supporting foster carers and families across Ireland. In this episode, we talk about the current challenges within the fostering system – from the pressures carers face to the importance of feeling heard and supported.
It’s a thoughtful, down-to-earth conversation that highlights the vital role of community and advocacy in sustaining foster care. You’ll hear insights on:
If you’ve ever wondered what life looks like behind the headlines – or how real collaboration between carers, agencies and advocates can make a difference – this is an episode you won’t want to miss. You can follow Voices – The Origins Foster Care Podcast and listen on Spotify or on Apple Podcasts.
Fostering is full of stories – stories of hope, resilience, and everyday acts of kindness that change lives. Through Voices, we want to celebrate the carers and families who open their homes and hearts, share insights from experts and people with lived experience, and encourage more people to explore whether fostering could be right for them.
Each episode will shine a light on a different perspective – from the challenges carers navigate to the moments of joy that make it all worthwhile. Together, these stories show the power of fostering to transform not just children’s lives, but whole families and communities too.
New episodes of Voices – The Origins Foster Care Podcast will be released monthly on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. You can follow and subscribe today to stay up to date and hear the latest foster care conversations as soon as they’re released.
